A construction worker who contracted salmonellosis after contracting construction work has died, authorities said Tuesday.
The 33-year-old male worker died on Sunday at a local hospital, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said in a statement.
He had contracted the infection while working at a construction site, which is part of a large facility near the Santa Monica Pier.
He had recently been laid off from his job at the facility and was working for a company called Silver City.
His condition was not immediately available.
The worker’s death is the latest in a string of salmonello infections at construction sites.
The California Department of Public Health has linked nearly 40 salmoneLL outbreaks at construction projects since January 2016.
