Construction site in the town of Millers Falls, Michigan, was closed on Sunday after the contractor accidentally triggered an explosion.
Officials said a man accidentally fired a pistol during construction of a home-improvement project.
The man was taken to a local hospital for observation.
The blast destroyed the home-repair project, which included a new exterior wall, flooring and ceilings.
A spokesperson for Millers Fire & Security told NBC station WDIV that the home is on its way to be demolished.
The town of nearly 400,000 people is about 90 miles northwest of Detroit.
